We will work with you as much — or as little — as you wish. We enjoy explaining what we're doing as we're working, so please ask questions if you want to. But if that's not your style, we'll analyze your problem on our own and then either fix the problem immediately or provide you with a list of options, if that makes more sense.

• For some tasks, our standard service fee of $45/hour applies.
• For others, a ceiling applies: we charge $45/hour, but stop charging if we reach the negotiated ceiling.
• For a few tasks, we charge less than our standard fee. See below for details.

For on-site service calls, our minimum fee is $45.

Hardware/software recommendations and advice
We can provide expert advice on what new hardware and software will fit your needs best. This is not limited to computers — maybe you're looking for a new MP3 player, for example.
Fee: $45/hr

Hardware/software installation and upgrades
Instead of purchasing a new computer, you might get several more years of use out of your current computer with an inexpensive upgrade.
Fee: $45/hr

Removal of viruses, spyware, and other malware
We have a suite of tools to remove malware from your computer. In some cases, the severity of infection can be so high that a computer rebuild (see below) would be recommended as being more cost effective. Removal of malware is almost always an in-shop service. Computer cleanup and optimization
Does your machine seem to run slower than it used to? Maybe you need a simple hardware upgrade, or maybe you have old, unused programs that should be removed. We can help.

Computer rebuilds
Sometimes a PC is so corrupted by a virus, or its system software has so degraded over time, that the most sensible action is to backup your data and rebuild your system from scratch. We're experienced with computer rebuilds; we can find up-to-date versions of all your device drivers so your system run like it used to (or better!). All recoverable personal data (email, etc.) will be restored.

Operating system upgrades
Have a Windows XP machine, and you aren't sure if it can run Windows 7? Still have a Windows Vista machine that came with a Windows 7 upgrade disk, but are unsure on how to proceed? Let us help you get the most out of your machine.
Fee: $45/hr

Computer to computer data transfer (email, docs, etc.)
Have a new machine? We can quickly transfer your personal data to your new machine.
Fee: $45/hr

Home network setup and service
Have a new Windows 7 machine that you want to network with your existing Windows XP machine and printer? We can solve problems like this and more.
Fee: $45/hr

Hardware repair
There are a number of computer and peripheral hardware problems that we can repair. Sometimes a thorough cleaning of dust and dirt is all that's needed…and we can do it safely, without damaging your machine.
Fee: $10 for cleaning, otherwise $45/hr

Custom-built computers — specializing in gaming machines
Would you like a computer that is ready to play today's high-end games and which can be easily upgraded for the future? Ben specializes in building the machine just for you. He has an extensive knowledge of the graphics cards that today's demanding games require.
Fee: Negotiated ceiling

Computer tutoring
Fee: $30/hr

Photo scanning
If you have boxes of old photos that you'd like to have digitized for safe-keeping, or to give to friends and relatives, we can help.
Fee: $1/photo; more for extensive retouching

Document digitizing
We can also convert your hard-copy materials into editable, computer-based documents. One of our clients had a large book of materials for the course she teaches, and was photocopying from that book to generate student material. We digitized the entire source book, and now she can easily edit materials as needed to customize them for each class.
Fee: $25/hr
